The passage of time in Avalon is marked gently and reassuringly every quarter hour by the melodious chimes left to the town by the late Mrs. Wrigley. The Chimes Tower has been continuously in service since 1925, and on special occasions and holidays its bells are tolled manually. The view from the summit is breathtaking, but if your wind is in short supply, hail a cab from Front Street to the Zane Grey Pueblo and stroll from there.
