Forest Lawn was originally
dedicated on New Year's Day 1917, by Dr. Hubert Eaton with a solemn
"Builder's Creed" to create a "great park devoid of
misshapen monuments to… Earthly death." Today Forest the cemetery is a
monument to the fact that in LA - we can even make death look good.
Splashing fountains, sweeping vistas, country chapels and European
cathedrals all offer vantage points for exquisite marble statuary,
centuries old armor, museum galleries on Michaelangelo, DaVinci and
brilliant stained glass windows depicting the Arthurian romances. Massive
depictions of The Last Supper, The Crucifixion and The Resurrection in
stained glass, 200-foot-long murals and billboard size paintings
accompanied by dramatic readings provide eternal perspective for those
seekers among us. -- WEBSITE-TO-GO!
