Historic mechanism goes in circles for over a cent

 She is the only one of her kind in existence. A full-size, four
abreast, all jumping Spillman Engineering Carousel. Those of us who grew up
beneath her pavilion just called her the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. No
fiberglass fillies here. This galloping cavalcade of hand-carved creatures
are original wood, long-haired tails, bejeweled and intricately detailed
with flowers, flourishes and flaming eyes. Some of the prancing ponies date
to the 1880s. A restoration effort has begun by current owners Rosemary and
Warren Deasy, and while in full operation daily, you can hear the mighty
Stinson Military Band Organ play live every weekend with over 1,500
selections available from its organ roll library. There is nothing like it
on the West Coast. Tickets are only a buck. If you smile big enough, Warren
