Hotel Metropole Historic bayside resort lives again.

There
are many artifacts still present on Catalina to connect today's visitors
with the original guests of the 1800s. In Avalon, one crown jewel that has
been reconstructed is the magnificent Hotel Metropole (the original burned
down in a 1915 fire). Rebuilt on the original site with its contemporary
suites furnished with authentic antiques, the hotel is only steps from the
beach. The continuing tradition of friendly service makes return visits
feel more like an informal stay with a wealthy relation than a journey to a
secluded port. Every room has a delightful view of either Avalon Bay, the
mountains and canyons, or the Marketplace Courtyard, and some have a
fireplace. Beyond the expansive suites, there are pleasant balconies,
elegant conference rooms, a rooftop Jacuzzi and even day-spa luxuries.
Romantic dining, relaxed shopping and fevered arcade action are all
available in the adjacent courtyard. Planning an ocean-view wedding, an
overdue sabbatical or just the perfect getaway? Consider The Beach House, a
private cottage with the ultimate in comfort, charm and lasting memories.
