It's just a few square blocks, but
Old Town Pasadena retains the charm of an earlier century. The heart of
this cross-section of Valley history is Mercantile Place; a service road
parallel to Colorado and running behind the businesses on the south side of
the street between Fair Oaks and Raymond. Activity began there around 1887
when shipping access was available to the local 19th century druggist, book
store, outfitters, and the Valley Union Newspaper. Today a delicious array
of bistros, high end clothing stores, pawn shops, bars and movie theaters
carry on the daily bustle of main street. The alley has bloomed into a warm
and inviting backstage for evening entertainment and outdoor dining. -- WEBSITE-TO-GO!
